Aqua ammonia is a very small amount of ammonia in water..enough to open the hair shaft, but not in toxic amounts. The peroxide is also necessary for the haircolor to work. EcoColors is formulated with nontoxic in mind, but if you are looking for 100% botanical haircolor, we recommend you try henna.
