How do you know what tone you are so you know what color base would be correct?? Do you go what color hightlights are present?? I have a lot of natural gold highlights but have been told by salon's that my hair is medium ash brown. My sister has a lot of natural red highlights & she wants to enhance them. When we put reddish brown or auburn on her, it almost comes out black. So if your naturally gold based, do you only stick with gold based colors, etc.??
