Do a strand test before trying a new formulation

When you first try a new formula, ALWAYS do a test strand before applying any new color to your entire head. (and an allergy patch test) This means, if you have highlighted hair, you should do a test strand on the highlighted AND non-highlighted strands, as each one will take differently to the haircolor. Since the highlighted hair is previously colored, it should be color according to the directions in the kit for previously colored ends(It is more porous than non color- treated hair).Never apply full strength color to highlighted hair. Never apply full strength color to previously colored ends.Full strength means equal parts color and developer. A diluted formula should always be applied to previously colored hair. A diluted formula is equal parts color and developer ...THEN diluted by half with water. Doing a test strand insures you do not end up with a color tone you do not like.
