Medium Ash Brown Goes Red?

Hi,    I have light-medium, golden brown hair. Whenever I've used natural colors in the past, they "always" fade to a brassy/orange color that looks awful with my skin tone.      I need to cover a little gray, but some folks have posted that the medium ash brown fades to red in a couple weeks. If even the ash color does this, I suspect they all will?      Any advice for someone with light-medium, golden brown wanting to keep that color and cover a few grays....without going brassy/orange?    Thanks!!
