I have sandy light to medium brown hair (just a little darker than your light brown, but quite a bit lighter than your medium brown), and have tried mixing the medium ash blond and light brown with a 2:1 ratio to counteract red (the 1:1 ratio was definitely too strawberry). The color is pretty, but is still a little too golden/strawberry for me and maybe a bit too light. I figured my next step would be to try a 1:1 ratio of medium ash blond and medium ash brown, but I am not sure. I am concerned about it coming out too dark and too ashy ( I want to retain a rich warmth, but just get rid of the strawberry!) Looking at your color swatches, the medium brown looks lighter than the medium ash brown. Is this true? If so, I would be tempted to try the medium brown with the medium ash blond, to keep it from getting darker than my natural color. But, I worry about too much red. When you use darker colors, is the ash as important, or will the medium brown come out neutral since my hair is lighter than the dye? Or since I pull so much red, will sticking with all ash colors give me a neutral result? Thanks for your help!
