Every time you apply color to previously colored hair , the process will lighten the previously colored hair. Apply the color developer mixture to new growth only. If you applied this mixture to your rots and got a lighter color, this may be because of increased heat to the scalp or alkalized hair from previous products used such as an alkaline shampoo or styling product. Always do a strand test by mixing a drop of color and a drop of developer and letting this process 30-45 minutes to determine if you like the end result and also to determine the proper processing time.
