Aways do a test strand before applying any new color to your entire head. If your hair has never been colored before, you can apply the color developer mixture all over, but you may want to spray the tips of your hair with water before application since long hair may be more porous on the ends. Each person's hair will react differently depending on underlying pigments in the hair shaft and the unique texture and porosity of each individual's hair. If your hair is extra long, buy a few kits to be sure that you have enough color for your application.
