ALWAYS do a strand test when trying to determine the correct color to use, before applying a color all over your head and then not liking it. Any color you use will look slightly different on gray hair than the rest. As a rule, the color will look one shade lighter than the rest of your hair. This is not true with black haircolor, which will make all of your hair black, or if your hair is extremely porous(the color will look darker than you intend and also fade more quickly).
