Must settle for a DIY color fix - any pointers?

Thank you so far for all your help. I just received my box of Reddish Brown and I also got Warm Auburn just in case. I posted before about taking the black hair dye out of my hair and turning my whole head an auburn color with Ecocolors.      Anyway, I have about 2 inches of brown and white roots (about 30 or 40% white) and the rest a chemical dyed black (Clairol Hydrience). I've called a few salons and none want to use the Ecocolor I have - they all want to use their own stuff. Sooooo...I'm going to do it myself. I've enlisted the help of a friend too and I'm usually pretty handy with my hair in almost all aspects. But I'm wondering if you could give me any tips. My plan is to use a stripper and then put the Reddish Brown on.      Should I condition after the stripper, before I put in the Ecocolor or just apply it immediately after?    What strippers might you recommend - I've heard of ColorFix, Ultra Blue, Pure Blonde...?    Do I just put the Reddish Brown on or do I need to do or mix something else to ensure an auburn color?    I plan to start with clean hair - is that a good idea?    I know there are no guarantees, but any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!!!    Thank you again!
