After 12 yrs of dyeing my hair, I have had two severe reactions to the dye - blistered scalp, top of my ears, swollen eyes, forehead, etc. I had to take oral steroids to stop the swelling. The last time I had my hair dyed, my hairdresser left it on half the time, no heat, no cap and no blow drying. My reaction was minimal - slight swellling 24 hrs later of my forehead and itchy scalp but no blisters. I went through extensive allergy testing at a hospital in Boston and was told I was allergic to PPD, 3 aminophenol, 4 aminophenol but not resorcinal [sp?] Has anyone had this experience? There is one salon in Mass that is on the list that uses this product. I am not ready to go grey but my hairdresser has tried several products but to no avail. Suggestions???
