A medium brown on gray hair will be a light brown and adding golden blonde warm to the mix will actually make the formulation slightly lighter and more golden.(You mentioned it was too ash before).Always do a strand test before applying a new formulation to your entire head. This way you can check to make sure you like the end result before it gets applied to your entire head.
