I love coloring my hair light brown but most often disappointed with dyes which either are too dark or have too much red. I am African American. I was recently told that to achieve true light brown on our hair, we should use dark blonde, is this true? Also I have a few layers of old color that look pretty yucky and make my hair look dull, can hair be stripped of all old color and recolored to give a better look?    Thanks
