This depends on what you are trying to achieve and how long your hair is, how damaged the integrity of the hair shaft is. In general, to tone lightened hair, dilute you haircolor formula(equal parts color and developer) by half with water or conditioner. ALWAYS do a strand test and an allergy patch test according to the kit directions before applying any new color to your entire head.
