Basic Haircolor Theory: An oxidative haircolor lifts and deposits. Depending on the formulation, the color may be used for deposit only, or 1-4 levels of lightening. The Ecocolors Home Haircolor Kits are formulated for gray coverage(or 1-2 levels of lightening). According to the kit directions, apply the color full strength(equal parts color and developer) to the new growth or gray hair. If you want to repigmentize previously colored ends, apply the color mixture diluted by half with water to the previously colored ends. If you are not covering gray and you just want to make your natural hair darker, use the formula for previously colored hair(diluted by half with water is what the instructions recommend).
